Exciting opportunities to get involved in the work of Wales\u2019s new Women\u2019s Health Research Centre!<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Health Research Wales (WHRW) is recruiting Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) members for two groups:<\/p>\n

(1) Internal Advisory Group (6 members)
\n(2) Overarching External Advisory Board (2 members)<\/p>\n

All-Wales Reproductive Health Research Day<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Members of both groups will work in partnership with a diverse range of people, including researchers, clinicians, policy-makers, and fellow members of the public. This will support meaningful and inclusive patient and public involvement across WHRW\u2019s programme of work, ensuring that PPIE is fully embedded in women\u2019s health research in Wales.<\/p>\n

You will help to strengthen WHRW\u2019s visibility and voice across Wales, including amongst under-served and marginalised groups, and ensure that the centre is accountable to the general public and its funders.<\/p>\n

These roles offer an excellent opportunity to contribute to women\u2019s health research, influence strategic decision\u2011making, and play an active role in shaping meaningful patient and public involvement within a supportive and collaborative environment.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Health Research Wales Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Advisory Group Members<\/h6>\n

Essential<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Has a passion for improving the health-related experiences and outcomes of women, girls, and people assigned female at birth<\/li>\n
  • Has the time and ability to contribute to regular meetings online and, occasionally, in person<\/li>\n
  • Is able (with support of their Personal Assistant\/carer if applicable) to read and contribute insights and views on various strategic documents and plans<\/li>\n
  • Has good \/ strong networks and links with under-served communities in Wales<\/li>\n
  • Is a confident and knowledgeable advocate for the perspectives and needs of marginalised groups \/ people<\/li>\n
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with others, with good listening and communication skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Desirable<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Previous involvement in research projects, whether as a public contributor or facilitating others\u2019 involvement<\/li>\n
    • Has a strong understanding of what effective PPIE involves, including Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), accessibility, communication, openness and sensitivity to different people\u2019s needs and experiences<\/li>\n
    • Previous experience of designing \/ delivering communications, engagement, or outreach activities<\/li>\n
    • Well-organised and able to work to deadlines<\/li>\n
    • A confident communicator, happy to undertake public speaking or media interviews (albeit with preparation and training as appropriate)<\/li>\n
    • Experience of developing and delivering training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      Women\u2019s Health Research Wales External Advisory Board Independent Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) members<\/h6>\n

      Essential<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Has a passion for improving the health-related experiences and outcomes of women, girls, and people assigned female at birth<\/li>\n
      • Has the time and ability to contribute to regular meetings online and, occasionally, in person<\/li>\n
      • Is able to (with support of a Personal Assistant\/carer if applicable) contribute insights and views on various strategic documents and plans<\/li>\n
      • Is able to make strong, evidence-based arguments and assessments of strategy, risks and future-proofing activities<\/li>\n
      • Has good \/ strong networks and links with under-served communities in Wales<\/li>\n
      • Is a confident and knowledgeable advocate for the perspectives and needs of marginalised groups \/ people<\/li>\n
      • Works effectively and collaboratively with key decision makers\/sector leaders (including Welsh Government, NHS, Business leaders etc.), with good listening and strong communication skills<\/li>\n
      • Is able to apply sound judgement and ensure WHRW is fulfilling its vision and meeting objectives, not least when it comes to assessing role \/ function \/ utilisation \/ support for PPIE throughout the work of the Centre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Desirable<\/p>\n

          \n
        • Previous involvement in research projects, whether as a public contributor or facilitating others\u2019 involvement<\/li>\n
        • Has a strong understanding of what effective PPIE involves, including Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), accessibility, communication, openness and sensitivity to different people\u2019s needs and experiences<\/li>\n
        • Previous experience of designing \/ delivering communications, engagement, or outreach activities<\/li>\n
        • Well-organised and able to work to deadlines<\/li>\n
        • Previous experience in a leadership role \u2013 this could include leading a grassroots campaign or organisation or chairing meetings or groups<\/li>\n
        • Awareness of what constitutes good governance, including internal communications, risk management, reporting and the Nolan Principles of Public Life (selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership)<\/li>\n
        • A confident communicator, happy to undertake public speaking or media interviews (albeit with preparation and training as appropriate)<\/li>\n
        • Experience of developing and delivering training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
